Dover 1943 - Watching and Waiting

This German photograph was sent to Japan, returned to England via Russia, and reached THE GEOGRAPHIC via New York. When a gun fires on Cap Gris Nez, an alarm is sounded in Dover. A minute later the shell arrives. This Dover post boasts that it is closest to the enemy. Smoking the inevitable cigar, the Prime Minister wears a steel helmet.
