Seen from France through enemy
telephoto lens, Dover’s cliffs and towers seem very
near.
This German photograph was sent to Japan, returned
to England via Russia, and reached THE GEOGRAPHIC via New
York.

An Air Raid Patrol warden peers

When a gun fires on Cap Gris Nez, an alarm is sounded
in Dover. A minute later the shell arrives. This Dover post
boasts that it is closest to the enemy.
