Railways in Dover

A South Eastern Railway boat train c1865.  The train is just leaving the Admiralty Pier on the single track section to Dover Town Station and then on to London Charing Cross.  In the background a London Chatham and Dover train can be seen leaving. Shunting coaches on the Admiralty Pier c.1947. A South Eastern and Chatham Railway train leaving Dover for Folkestone c.1910.  Until the 1920s the line between Dover Town Station and Shakespeare Cliff tunnel was carried on a low timber trestle.
